While computer technology is getting better and better, we must remember that it still has it’s vulnerabilities. It is always better to have a hard copy of all the files we keep because anyway, when we need to e-mail them, we can scan them. Data drives, compact disks, and any other digital file can become corrupted or afflicted with a virus. Having multiple backup options is ideal and we really can never have enough backup copies of our files.
The simplest form of computer data backup is the live compact disc, which runs an operating system from the CD drive for easy backup.
Those of us storing large amounts of data will need something larger than a cd rom drive. For larger data storage we can use external hard drives. Many external hard drives will store up to 4TB of data. The advantage of this is the load you can put in but the disadvantage is also the space it will take up. Of course there are data drives that do not take up much room, but generally they will not store quite as much data as the larger ones. External hard drives are advantageous because you don’t always have to have them connected to your computer. This means that you can control who has access to the drive as well as when and where others have access to the drive.
Another great computer data backup is through an online system known as internet data backup. It’s like renting a storage space. Unfortunately, another similarity between online data backup and storage garages is the monthly fee. Nobody ever gets excited about adding another monthly expense to their budget. Even though you may not think your data is worth stealing, data thieves might think differently. This is probably how the naked pictures of Vanessa Hudgens, that Gossip Girl chick and my personal favorite, Scarlett Johanson got online.
There is also that computer battery backup type of computer data backup so that you will not lose your files during blackouts. This is a great advantage, but probably not something that most people need.
It seems that folks are constantly on the move. Folks who don’t seem to be doing anything are probably still chatting on Facebook, playing online games, or shopping. Those that are always in a hurry use the computer because of the need to be fast all the time. But one should never have the common excuses of not using a computer data backup. When it comes to backing up your files, “I don’t have time”, “I’ll do it later”, and “I just don’t feel like it” are not acceptable things to say.
